I wanted to make Isla a little pillowcase dress for her birthday, and I found this adorable fabric with Japanese geisha dolls and cherry blossoms and fans, etc. We are all things Japanese right now, so I used the fabric for her party dress.
I took a scrap of the material with me when I ordered her cake. I asked the bakery (at the commissary) to try to match it, color-wise, style-wise, but my request was very casual and laid back. I thought if the cake has turquoise icing and pink borders, it will be perfect. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the cake! They made digital images directly from the fabric and transferred the images onto the cake. The match (to her dress) was perfect, and so far beyond my expectations!
We all know I’m a huge cake-lover, but a cake to match a dress is a new level of cake-loving, even for me. And, it tasted great! And, and, it was a bargain to say the least. Yay!
