It’s cherry blossom season again, and this year, we got it right! We revisited the same forest we went to last year, only this time we didn’t get lost and it wasn’t raining. We actually got out of the car, found a playground, made friends with a group of Japanese school kids- all while viewing the lovely sakura.
Next, Elliot joined us and we grabbed lunch at a place recommended by a friend, traditional Okinawan food that was delicious! A few buildings down from the restaurant, we found an ice cream shop and ordered cherry blossom ice cream. Then we headed further north to a castle ruins site up in the mountains. The blossom viewing here was simply beautiful. Imagine the setting of castle ruins in heavily forested mountains with commanding views of the sparking sea, accented generously with bright pink cherry blossoms. And the best part of this year’s hanami (cherry blossom viewing)? Elliot isn’t leaving for a deployment!
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of today’s story.
These are so pretty. Thanks for the glimpse.
